Happy Birthday Saachi

Happy 2nd birthday Saachi. Although I had faced fatherhood with some trepidation, you are the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me and Nicky.

I hope this blog entry survives for you to read when you grow up Saachi and that time you are still as close to me as you are today!
We are living in Des Moines, dreaming about moving back to California to be near the family.
Your vocabulary now consists of both english and punjabi words and phrases. You love eating parathas, yougurt and butter. You used to love sabji but lately that seems to have taken a hit. Lately butter seems to be somewhat of an obsession-you eat it straight with a spoon! You love to dance to punjabi music-in fact you will make me turn off any other kind of music to put on giddha or bhangra to dance.
You are obsessed with the neighbors dog Sophie. You can stand for hours in the big window talking to Sophie as she runs around the neighborhood.
Your favorite rhymes include 'itsy bitsy spider, lalla lalla lori, happy birthday, twinkle twinkle little star, and the alphabet song- pronounced as ; ibbee tay, lalla lori, happy happy, thanku thanku and abcd.
Your favorite book seems to be the American heritage picture dictionary.
You pretend to distribute prasad after saying satnaam vaheguru. You refer to yourself in the third person. You are amused by farts including your own-bhoon!
You are very affectionate, love to hug and kiss. You even say 'sholly' if you think you did something wrong-especially if you step on daxie in the stairs! You love to feed daxie his food one bite at a time and sometimes drink out of his bowl. I guess your oral bacterial flora now matches daxie's.
This was the year of the great New Orleans Flood.

Happy birthday honey!

papa.
